Take Your Vacation Time

Today I want to share a short post as I know many of you are trying to get things done before you begin your long Independence Day holiday.  Chances are pretty good that your July 4th plans will be very different this year.  My community has canceled the annual community festival and fireworks.  My neighbor is skipping a yearly family party on a lake.  And for many of us, we are not in an office as we will still work from home.

No matter what your situation may be, I want to remind you that time off this summer is very important.  As supervisors, you may have seen signs of exhaustion in your staff.  You may see it in yourself. That’s especially true for journalist friends of mine who have been working nearly nonstop since March. Working from home and the stress and fear of the coronavirus is taking its toll on a lot of people

So, managers need to make sure that their teammates are taking vacation time off even if that means sitting on the porch with a good book.

It starts with you.  Disconnect.  Take your time off.

As Maya Angelou said, “Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for.  Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.”

The worldwide headquarters of Dave Edwards Media will be closed until Monday.  Enjoy!
