I was not prepared for my first job as a manager. Not many people are. I was good at my job, so I got promoted.

I gradually learned how to manage, but I realized that while I was getting good at the day-to-day aspects of my new position, I wasn’t leading the staff or moving the organization forward.

I was lucky to have been mentored by true leaders. I learned much and grew professionally. I also made mistakes that I hope you never make.

Years later, my organization was recognized as being an industry leader.  I received a national innovation award, and we had low staff turnover.

Since I left that position, I have been helping people learn how to manage and be leaders. I wrote a book about it. Be A Leader, Not Just A Manager, which has been a blueprint for many seeking to advance their careers.

I also have several online and on-demand courses to help your career track.

I also help professionals through one-on-one coaching. We discuss the issues that matter to you rather than employ a cookie-cutter approach.

I hope these resources help you, and if you want to discuss my coaching work, please email me at daveedwards@outlook.com.

How to Stop One Person from Dominating Your Meeting

Meetings are meant to be collaborative discussions, but sometimes a person dominates the conversation, which means that others don’t participate. Such behavior can destroy a meeting’s effectiveness unless it is addressed.

Helping Your Team Find Purpose

In today’s workplace, employees seek more than just a paycheck; they want to feel inspired, connected to a greater purpose, and see the tangible impact of their work. When leaders succeed in fostering this sense of purpose, employees are more engaged, innovative, and productive.

Do We Need This Meeting?

Most of us spend a lot of time in meetings. Yet many of them accomplish very little. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
