Jumpstart Your Creativity

If you want to have more creative ideas, you need to create space for them.

Creativity rarely appears when you’re stressed, rushed, or glued to routine. One simple step is changing your environment. Go for a walk, sit in a park, or move to a different room. A new setting sparks fresh thoughts because your brain makes new connections.

Another way to boost creativity is to let your mind wander. Many people think daydreaming is a waste of time, but research shows it helps with problem-solving and idea generation. Instead of scrolling through your phone during breaks, allow yourself quiet moments to think.

Reading and learning outside your usual interests also feed creativity. If you normally read business books, try a novel or biography. Exposing yourself to different perspectives helps you connect ideas in new ways. Conversations with people from different backgrounds can do the same.

Journaling is another powerful tool. Writing down random thoughts, questions, or observations keeps ideas flowing. You don’t need perfect sentences; the act of capturing ideas helps spark more.

Finally, don’t fear failure. Many creative breakthroughs come after a string of bad or “silly” ideas. Give yourself permission to brainstorm freely without judgment. Often, the boldest ideas start from what seems impossible.

It’s equally important to know what to do with your ideas once you have them.
