Be Happy…Be Productive

I’ve got a simple suggestion to help boost your productivity.  It doesn’t involve how you use your calendar or process your email.  It’s about your attitude and your approach to life.

Be happy.

An Oxford University study showed that happy people are 13% more productive.

That might mean allowing for flexible work schedules, allowing parents to attend their child’s after-school events even if that means leaving early or finding other ways to keep your workers happy while still getting their work done.  A 2023 International Labor Organization report found that greater flexibility — from staggered start times to shift-sharing to remote working options — leads to greater productivity and improved work-life balance.

University of Warwick Professor Andrew Oswald said: “Companies like Google have invested more in employee support, and employee satisfaction has risen. It rose by 37% for Google, and they know what they are talking about. Under scientifically controlled conditions, making workers happier pays off.”

I have more ideas about the role of happiness at work from the employer and employee perspective HERE.
